One is that the world is deglobalizing.
And the other, which is related but not quite the same, is the world is fragmenting.
Uh different political blocks are interacting less economically.
That thesis seemed at odds with uh a couple of things.
Uh one, I spend a lot of time, don't ask why.
Uh looking at trade in pharmaceuticals.
No, it's just
It's an interesting subsector of the global economy.
It's a hobby.
It's a hobby.
Uh
Yeah, I mean I I'm certainly not paid uh for my uh odd take on the pharmaceutical industry.
And the pharmaceutical industry has continued to globalize.
Uh, US imports of pharmaceuticals have doubled since 2016.
The US imports from low-tax jurisdictions, which is a big part of pharmaceutical trade.
It's not with low-cost jurisdictions, it's low-tax jurisdictions.
About half of our imports are from five tax hubs.
They've doubled.
One quarter of those imports come from the great country of Ireland.
Uh so that's not a story of deglobalization.
