And, you know, it's also important, I guess, for some people who maybe, you know, didn't have conversations with parents who have now passed on, but spend time with them.
they will come to understand that you do love them, that you do care for them.
So anyone out there who has maybe missed the opportunity to have a final verbal conversation but did spend time nevertheless with parents, the parents know.
You know in your life and in your family who loves you and who cares once you're spending time with them, even if you don't quite get around to the very overt verbal conversations.
And look, the jobs can be important.
You know, they say nobody on their deathbed wishes they had spent more time in the office.
But on the other hand, having a job, having a career, making a contribution in that way, feeling valued, important and connected through work is very important for identity.
It's very important for well-being.
And it's something maybe we don't value as much as we should.
Look, these are important conversations.
And as Anne was saying beforehand, the Hospice Foundation has a Think Ahead pack, which is a really nice way to get into some rather difficult topics.
And it's about thinking ahead about what kind of care a person might want when they're ill and various arrangements they might want to put in place.
And it's a nice way to talk about the decision support service also has on its website.
DSS.ie has a lot of information about advanced health care directives, powers of attorney and things like this.
But certainly the Hospice Foundation Think Ahead pack, which can be downloaded from the website, is a really good, gentle way into some difficult topics.
Ah, so that is very, very, that is very, very challenging because it's not necessarily a time when someone will change their cognitive habits.
The only thing I can recommend there is to continue talking with them, even if it feels like it's going around in very negative circles all of the time.
This is where maybe, this is where we're, you know, Brendan, this is where the emphasis on words and verbal communication lets us down sometimes.
We rely too much on them.
And don't try and solve the problem for them or talk them out of it.
