If the problem could have been solved, it would have been solved by now.

So it's very much about being there with the person, continuing to listen to them, continuing to be supportive.

And what we do suggest in those circumstances is try and change the physical set up.

So maybe if you're always talking inside to go outside, you know, just to use other methods, but to continue to be there.

There's no solution to that problem.

apart from sitting with it and being companionable and being there in solidarity with the person.

Many, many people feel that.

They feel the lack of human touch, particularly toward the end of life.

Now, but we cannot presume people like the sense of touch.

I, for example, will do anything to avoid hugs in social situations.

I do not want people holding my hands in these sort of settings.

But there are other things that can happen.

And so, for example, in many hospices, one of the most popular things is, for example, the dog that often visits hospices.

It moves us out of the thinking, out of the words and directly into the moment, which is, you know, and those moments are especially important when maybe there aren't so many of them left.

Well, I'm hoping to do so.

I mean, I was hoping wisdom would kick in at some point in my life.

And actually, a couple of years ago, I travelled off to India, to Bogaya, where Buddha became enlightened.

And I sat under the tree.

They still have the actual tree, they say.

And nothing happened at all.
