People are coming across.

You need to be able to sort people into, is there national security risk?

Is this someone who is not fleeing drug crime and drug trafficking, but someone who is doing that themselves?

Are these people that can be put on a path towards citizenship?

But the problem is we have a backlog that lasts years and years and has only gotten worse since the days when I was an attorney, precisely because there has been an unwillingness to hire, train, and recruit administrative law judges who can actually process this claim.

So what you have is a party that is intentionally gumming up the process and then flinging their hands in the air and trying to politically exploit the negative consequences of the crisis that has ensued.

And if you want to talk about hugely unpopular 60-40 issues, the elephant in the room

is that part of why all of these DSA candidates are so popular is because of Gaza.

That's a 60-40 issue against Israel.

Joe, this is what's so frustrating, because when it comes to an issue like Medicare for All, that 88% of Democratic voters support and 49% of Republicans, half of Republicans also support, we're never doing all of this alarmism about how, wow, there's this really popular policy that we just can't get the two major parties on board with.

When we're talking about stopping funding to the genocide in Gaza, which, again, is a majoritarian issue against funding Israel, there's none of this hand-wringing about, oh, my gosh, we need to do what the people say.
