the enterprise omnichannel payments and digital payment space.
But when I joined, it was a little old company of 250 folks, and I was able to go on a really fantastic journey with them of sort of growing that platform across both product roles as well as I was general manager for North America for a time.
But during that journey, I was head of product for Plaid during PSD2.
And this is a US podcast, but I think there's a fair number of fintech nerds here who will know what PSD2 is, which is the Payment Service Directive 2, which really kicked off.
open banking, open finance in Europe.
And I really saw all of that come to life.
And this space in general just seemed incredibly dynamic, fast moving, a lot of really interesting things going on.
So open banking and open finance always had a special place in my heart.
So at some point, I found my way to Plaid where I focus on a myriad of products here and having a blast.
So that's a bit about me.
You know, I really think that used to be a much more pronounced trade-off, especially if we're thinking in the context of real-time payments five to 10 years ago.
And I think the gap between those trade-offs has narrowed significantly.
And I would say that it's narrowed because of a few things, right?
Like if we rewind way going back before that period, yeah, the only option was go find your checkbook, get your accounting routing number, drop it into a field online, hope to gosh that you didn't fat finger something.
And like that was like the best in class experience when you compare that against other things, whether it's card or otherwise, it was quite the juxtaposition, right?
I think two things have really happened in the last few years, especially in the US.
First and foremost, just the maturity of open banking in general has become more ubiquitous.
And as these flows have matured,
They've become better understood by the consumer and they've become better user experiences powered by Plaid, powered by financial institutions, et cetera, right?
Like the speed by which you can just simply do an account linking or initiate a payment using open banking is only getting faster and only getting better.
