I do the same thing in my business, I do the same thing in life in general, is I'll weigh up the pros and cons or I'll weigh up the cost and the benefit and ask what the downside of situations are.
What are the things that could potentially kill me here?
So kill me in this, in the case of the articles, what could actually physically kill me?
But in the case of the hundred mile races, what could stop me finishing?
And the things that could stop me finishing were getting an injury.
I'm like if I get a bad injury beforehand,
That's going to affect me as my body starts to tire, you know, particularly in the latter half of a hundred mile race.
After that, then it was just going to be, it was going to be covering the distance.
I'm like, what happens if I time out?
You know, I had 31 hours to complete the 100 miles.
If I wasn't moving at a specific pace, I wasn't going to make that cutoff time.
So I had to condition my body to be able to do a certain speed or run a certain speed.
So they were the kind of two things that I identified up front.
And as a result of that, I just trained my body to either one not get injured.
So by not doing a load of junk miles and wasted runs and doing quality-focused training and quality-focused runs, that helped me.
And then combining that with um making my body adaptive to running on minimal fuel.
So
I got very fortunate on and I'll talk about the actual race shortly, but one of the things that I've done, and I spoke about this in last week's podcast, actually in question two, where somebody asked me about evidence-based versus a um experience-based and why I don't use carbohydrates post workout after my runs.
And I spoke about fat adaption and metabolic flexibility, basically just to
summarize it, meaning that you're metabolically flexible, that you can run off fat or carbohydrate.
