What's your challenge?
You know, I love the Jordan Peterson philosophy that...
to build the mental strength so that you can be the strongest person at your father's funeral or the strongest person at your mother's funeral based on your life circumstance.
And that's a great thought philosophy because it means that you need to build up that mental toughness so you don't break if life gets in your way.
And that's something that I've been very much aware of and trying to deal with over the last several months, probably a couple of years, that...
I've spoken on the podcast in the past that if anything ever happened to my daughter or anything ever happened to my mother, the two closest people in my life, that's when I would feel that I could mentally be broken.
And I didn't like that vulnerability because that doesn't help anybody.
If something happens to my mother tomorrow, I need to be strong for my daughter.
If something happens to my daughter tomorrow, I need to be strong for my mother.
If something happens to both of them, I need to be strong for myself so that I don't jump off a fucking cliff.
i didn't like that vulnerability or that weakness and don't confuse vulnerability with weakness i didn't like that weakness in myself and had to make myself mentally tougher so that if the worst situation happens i'm not going to break if the worst situation happens the real problems like loved ones being taken from you real problems not perceived problems like a torn achilles they're problems right now but you can deal with them they'll go away real problems
I needed to be stronger to deal with it because I wasn't.
I knew that I would break.
If something happened two years ago, I knew I wasn't mentally tough enough to deal with it.
Now, setting myself these challenges and trying to attack them head on and attacking fears, you know, as I said before on the podcast, behind every fear is a person you want to be.
and attacking those fears makes you mentally strong so that if life gives you a fucking sucker punch or life gives you a head blow you're able to deal with it and that's the reason i do it and not again i'm not saying that you have to run through the arctic i want to clarify that a million times but getting used to being uncomfortable and making yourself mentally tough allows you to
have the knowledge that if something really bad happens, you'll be strong enough and mentally tough enough to deal with it.
It also works on the flip side of that.
For those of you who've listened to that A Critical Habits podcast for building mental toughness about my gratitude anchors.
