So basically, uh, Catherine Cortez Masto and Amy Klobuchar, uh, went to the floor to try to pass by unanimous consent.
Um, this is the sort of tactic that is frequently used in the Senate for generally non-controversial bills, um, that are have support from both sides of the aisle, um, passed by unanimous consent, um, several public safety related bills.
Um, some of them had to do with sort of public safety grant funding.
Some of them did not.
Cory Booker stood up and objected to that because the Trump administration is withholding some public safety grants to certain states, including his.
And so, you know, it was sort of a back and forth between Booker and Cortez Masto.
Klobuchar got involved at one point.
And, you know, it's sort of a microcosm of.
the general debate among Democrats right now about how to respond to Trump, who has been impounding federal funding, doing things that are generally beyond the bounds of legality and certainly norms of how presidents typically behave.
And so Booker was arguing essentially that Democrats should not be working with Republicans to pass public safety bills while Trump is withholding funding on public safety.
And he was saying that officers in his state, officers in New York and elsewhere are just as deserving of the funding as folks in red states.
Right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, that's that's what you know, that's sort of what he would say.
