If you have your own financial advisor, contact your financial advisor.
This is where they really earn their keep because they can explain to you the trade-offs.
You might say, well, look, I know markets have gone down.
If I switch to be more conservative now or at the extreme if I switch to cash, okay, I'm effectively turning a paper loss into a real loss.
Um, I won't get that money back.
Um, and it also means that when markets eventually recover, I'm not going to participate as much in that.
Um, especially if I put money in cash.
Um, so as long as I understand that trade off and I'm prepared to say, okay,
I'm prepared to maybe accept a bit of a short-term loss in order for me to sleep better at night in the future.
That's a conversation worth having.
But as a general rule, regardless of which phase of life you are, if you're not losing sleep at night, if you're invested in such a way that you're comfortable with, that you are taking an appropriate amount of risk, but not too much risk that you're losing sleep, then there's probably nothing really you need to do at this point.
That's the thing.
Sometimes in investing, and I think we might have talked about this on a previous episode, that sometimes the best investment strategy is one of benign neglect.
Yeah, yeah.
You can pay too much attention to your super.
We want people to pay attention to their super, but to basically –
look at your super every minute of the day does not make a lot of sense.
Well, that's the thing.
It is part and parcel of if you're in markets and you're investing in markets, markets go up and down, prices go up and down.
um inevitably um what we find you know and this is maybe maybe we're weird but um i look at we are well we're weird but you know when you look at a period like this um rather than actually you know panic and and potentially make poor investment choices
