I don't think they do.

And this is where this is where I think for farmers and this gets at whether people support President Trump or not.

You know, farmers have been watching farms disappear for a century.

It's 45,000 per year on average for the past century.

And that's at the hands of both political parties for decades.

And so a lot of people that I know from farm country and from rural America don't have a whole lot of faith in either party.

And, you know, it's pretty rare to find the policymaker in Congress who understands what's going on on a family farm, let alone how that affects the food on every American dinner table.

Oh, well, it puts us in a completely unsustainable position.

Just stepping back for a moment from the immigration question, although it's part of it, right?

Stepping back, we have a situation where our farms have been disappearing for so long that

it's not in a sustainable position anymore.

And it's part of a broader food economy that is dominated by extreme integration.

Like all across the American economy, we have industries that are dominated by large players, right?

So the food industry and the egg industry are not unique.

They're chasing the rest of the economy.

They're trying to keep up with the Joneses all across the economy, right?

So that's part of what's been the pressure for farms to get bigger, too.

But what all that nets out to is that we have a food economy where there are too few ways for our food to get from the farm gate to the dinner table.

We saw this during COVID when the supply chain locked up, right, because you'd have a meat processing center or you'd have a distribution center go down.

These facilities are so big because of the way our industries are integrated that when one of them goes down, it has a massive impact on our supply.
