John, I know he's going to throw the heck out of a back shoulder throw in this pro day today.
There are a lot of people that do.
It's funny.
You talk to coaches.
Coaches love Mendoza, but a lot of times it's because he can speak their language.
He can get on the board and X and O and do all those other things.
For me, I kind of look at
And like, if I'm playing defense against him, what are his superpowers?
And everyone talks about the superpowers being the intangibles, the trace, the toughness and all that.
Like, that's great.
But at some point, you got to make this throw from the opposite hash to the sideline and can he deliver a dime?
In the league, because it quickly adapts, what happens when they take away his first read?
Does he have the ability to get to the second and third read?
What happens in a critical moment when he has to make a big boy throw?
We've seen our own Trevor Lawrence have to make some of those plays last year.
Can Mendoza do that?
So from a physical standpoint, that's why I'm not assigned him.
He reminds me a lot of Jared Goff.
And Jared Goff has been a four-time Pro Bowl player, but the machine and the support system around him has been elite.
And so I think very similar with Mendoza, he's going to need to have elite personnel around him to be the player that they expect to be his number one overall pick.
