Johnny Carson popped his head behind the curtain and he said, kid, don't worry.

You're going to be great tonight.

You're going to be great.

You're going to do great.

And I went, whoa.

And they said, we've been opening the curtain for this guy for years.

He never gets up from his chair ever.

And we can't believe he ever did that.

He's never done that before that he got up and said that to you.

I said, my hero just told me I'm going to kill him.

So I went out, hit my mark.

We had a great time.

I knew I said to myself, what I do in the next five minutes will change my life and my mother's life forever.

I'm going to go out here and make these people laugh and never look back.

So when I started doing the Byron Allen show.

knew i wanted to be near johnny and learn from him so i can have those conversations with him in the parking lot and uh i would say mr carson did you check out my show was a once a week show called the byron allen show and i had on whitney houston and all kinds of wonderful folks and um he would give me tips and then he said to me one day he says you know byron please remember i'm not doing a talk show i'm doing a comedy show

And the first half hour of my show is a comedy show.

The second half hour I have on celebrity number one, number two, good night, and I'll see you tomorrow night.

First 30 minutes, a comedy show.

And I said, thank you, Mr. Carson.
