Uh years and years ago, we had N.
T.
Wright at our bookstore.
And uh, yep, right here in Dallastown, he preached in our backyard.
And a book, uh, two books had just come out, one called Simply Jesus, and one called How God Became King, about how the kingship of Christ and the theme of the kingdom of God became uh known in the New Testament.
And N.
T.
Wright said, and I'll never forget it, he said, you know, he's an Anglican, so he
You know, it says the apostles' creed every week.
Um, he says, you know, in the apostles' creed, we say that Jesus was born of Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was dead and resurrected, and is coming again.
And he said he could imagine Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John standing around, scratching their head and saying, Look, guys, we gave you four biographies of the Son of God.
We wrote in detail things he taught, things he did, uh trouble he got into, um stories he told, the parables.
We didn't just write that for fun and the creeds affirm the virgin birth, which is a good thing, and affirm the resurrection, the bodily resurrection, which is a good thing.
But he said, what about everything that came between?
Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John must be offended by the creed because we don't even mention any of the stuff Jesus said and did.
Other than die and
get uh raised again.
So uh so to remedy that he's been writing books about the historical Jesus for years.
And uh here's the thing.
He has a brand new book coming next month.
