There's culinary joy.
There's tradition.
There's like just the pure raw joy of a rich, properly cared for camembert.
But if you try to bring those into a conversation with someone that's wielding the number that says like, but this will also make average lifespans go down.
The other stuff...
Loses like automatically.
There's not even – in most of the fights I watch in the public – in public health policy, that stuff can't even be put on the table.
You sound kind of like a lunatic if you try to put stuff on the table.
And I think the reason is because there's not a clear way to measure it.
Yeah, I mean, okay, I completely agree.
The only small pushback I want to give is there's a little part of me that is frustrated with attempting
to put a cash value on forgiveness.
I think even when you're saying like, well, I can, here's my justification for why it's important to be a forgiving person.
That'll make your blood pressure go down.
That's still from the point of view that's like, this stuff only matters if we can tie it down to something measurable.
And I want to say like, even that, even that claim has bought into the view where the only things that we are legitimately allowed to put into an official adult conversation are the things that have cash value.
Exactly.
I mean, I have my own version of this to confess.
So as you know, while I was writing this book, I became super into yo-yo.
I was studying other cases where some beautiful, delightful, weird activity had a competition scene and then suddenly changed.
