I'm doing half days.

This is something a lot of people do.

And it's fine because I can only do three or four hard hours on this thing anyways.

And it moves through and it gets done.

You have a lot more flexibility once you're getting pretty structured about how you manage your workload, how you talk and communicate about your work.

Well, when you move to this pull-based system where I have a small number of active products at a time, your pace of completion is going to go up.

So you will probably be outpacing almost anyone else in your company that's trying to do four or five things at the same time, just because you're dealing with a fraction of the administrative overhead.

So the amount of time per day you can spend actually making progress towards completion, that really jumps up.

One of the advantages of managing your workload is doing fewer things at once is you're going to be fast.

You're going to be fast compared to other people, even though to you it'll feel much slower because you have a lot less going on and you're moving from one thing to another.

We don't realize the degree to which we're going really slow in our work because we're so gunked up with the administrative overhead.

It's a log jam.

We sent too many of these project logs down to River.

And they all get jammed and then none make it through.

So when you just send less logs down the river, a lot more are making it to the mill.

It's not really an issue people have when they embrace doing fewer things.

They tend to get the opposite result, which is their boss are saying, wow, I don't know what you're taking, but like you're really getting things done.

Why can't the other people do it like this?

Why can't you be like Liz?

You get the opposite response.
