This one should be good, but the next one's going to be great.

And that helps keep me, for example, from getting paralyzed.

It's not all the chips aren't on the table for this thing I'm doing.

So that's always been helpful.

Yeah, it's harder in a couple of ways.

I mean, one way is just more people pay attention to them, which is interesting.

A lot of my books were cult classics.

It came out, not a big fuss was made.

They kind of disappeared.

And then slowly, word of mouth, they built up over time to sell a huge number of copies, which is a fantastic way, by the way.

to sell a lot of books because it just happens quietly.

And then over time, there's a big audience who likes what you're doing.

It's not like that anymore.

Now, if I'm launching a book, this could be a much more major thing.

Like slow productivity was number two on the New York Times bestseller list, which means there's going to be right away a huge amount of scrutiny, including the negative scrutiny and the positive scrutiny.

I do have to adapt to that.

It's a completely different world now.

Some of the criticism comes from the reality that I work in two worlds.

So on the one hand, I'm an academic.

I'm a digital theorist.
