while placing the burdens and impacts on the residents who live nearby.
There are numerous concerns associated with this project.
During construction, heavy truck traffic will increase residential roads, such as Kinky Boulevard, where I live.
I have personally witnessed construction vehicles driving through the neighborhoods while distracted, creating safety risks for children who walk to school, ride bikes, and play outside.
Residents should not have to worry about additional hazards being brought directly into their communities.
I'm also concerned about the potential health impacts associated with locating a substation so close to a neighborhood.
While there is ongoing debate regarding long-term health effects, studies have raised concerns about possible links between electromagnetic field exposure and certain childhood illnesses.
Regards of where one stands on the science placing this type of infrastructure immediately adjacent to my home and schools is a risk many families feel is unnecessary
when alternative locations may exist.
I also experienced the impacts of the previous substation construction firsthand.
During the first phase, I was awoken numerous times throughout the night by drilling, construction activity, and numerous other stuff.
This occurred during the school year when I was expected to be focused on academics and athletics.
Lack of sleep affected my ability to perform well in tests, complete schoolwork, and contribute as a member of the Heritage High School football team.
I know I was not alone in my experience during these disruptions, and after speaking with other kids in the neighborhood, many shared the same experience that they dealt with with sleep disturbances and felt that it negatively impacted their school to perform as well.
When a project affects daily lives of children throughout the entire community, impact should not be dismissed.
Another concern is Loudoun County being promoted Tree City USA, and yet projects like this often require removal of significant amounts of mature trees.
Thank you.
Good evening, everyone.
Thank you for your time and thank you for your service to our county.
industrial, for light industrial, whatever the case may be.
