But, you know, there's a lot of people involved in these decisions and making them work.
Yeah, and someone's got to interpret it right.
Regardless of how much data you have, how much information, it's still making the right decision from that and interpreting it correctly.
Do you know what I thought?
I thought that whilst Max had Charles behind him, he had the measure of him.
But I think, you know, towards the end of tyre stints and that sort of straight line advantage that the Ferraris seem to have, I think it was going to be hard for Max to keep Charles behind him for the length of the race.
VSC it did kind of rob us of seeing that happen right you know watching Max and Charles race is one of my favorite things in Formula One right you know watching Max and Lewis watching Max and Charles these are some of my favorite battles so if anything I wasn't really annoyed about the VSC because I was kind of like you win some you lose some right that's how it goes with safety cars as we know well.
But what I will say, I did feel kind of robbed of watching that battle happen.
Couldn't agree more.
It's the structure of the tires, right?
They vary as well.
So it's not just having less grip from the surface of the rubber because it's stickier or less.
It's also about the way that that tire affects your car in terms of the way that its mechanical grip and balance is generated.
And if the tire wall and the structure of the tire just doesn't work for you, then there's not really a lot you can do.
And then the other big thing is just trying to keep them in this window.
We talk about this temperature window.
of of keeping tires in and when you have long straights like spa you can start to lose you can start to lose a little bit of tire temp by the end of the straight and then you're generating it again in sector two and max was you know he's been flying through sector two all weekend um especially on the medium tire and perhaps it was just the thing of you just couldn't generate enough and keep it in that window for long enough and you saw him have a couple of moments a really small lock up that was i guess inconsequential in the end but it just seemed like he wasn't as comfortable and able to put the car
where he wanted it and in the shape that he wanted it as he drove around the track so yeah it's it's not just necessarily about having more grip it's just about the tire perhaps not being as predictable in the way that it delivers that grip
Absolutely, and Spa is such a track that it is, you know, like you say, like that flow state, and it is such a sort of rhythmic and flowing circuit that you want that consistency.
It's only 44 laps, but you want all four, I'm hoping the first lap, you want 43 of them to be exactly the same, right?
