I'm a big fan of them in general.

I like reading them and I like writing them.

The prologue did change over time.

There had been a different prologue, which was similar, but I hadn't yet landed the voice.

The voice was a little bit different.

I wasn't yet totally clear.

on whose voice I wanted the prologue in.

And that's a little bit part of the mystery is you don't know whose voice the prologue is in until the very end.

So it did change over time.

I don't want to say too much because I don't want any spoilers, but yeah, the prologue was always there, but I continuously updated it.

And I did know like what I wanted the prologue to accomplish.

I knew that I wanted it to set a certain tone of the novel and

make it intriguing enough that people would then want to go on to chapter one.

That was always the intention with the prologue.

I knew that I wanted each of the three main characters to have their own POV.

I knew that I wanted it alternating third-person close.

Because that was the most useful to me because there's a lot of secrets and lies in this book.

And so I needed all three of their points of view.

This book would not have worked if I did a first person point of view from a single character.

because there just wouldn't have been, you wouldn't have had all the mystery and intrigue and the reader wouldn't know certain things that the characters didn't yet know and all that fun stuff.
