So I really pushed myself to be able to write in third person.

And now I can't imagine going back.

So it's really interesting.

Oh, yeah.

Well, voice, I think novels live and die by voice.

That's my theory.

I think there's so many things that you can tinker with, but voice is really going to make or break your novel.

And when you have different points of view...

you do need the voices to be distinct from one another.

It has to be unified enough as a whole.

It's sort of like if you're a musician writing an album, each song sounds like its own song, but all of them still sound like the artist.

I think that's the secret sauce of voice when you're doing different points of view.

But yeah, you don't want your characters to sound too much alike.

I'm very much a plotter.

I do plot.

I like to plan everything sort of out before I sit down to write.

However, once I do sit down to write, dialogue always comes to me first because

It's just the thing, I hear the voices of the characters before anything else.

So a lot of times my first draft of a first chapter will be very dialogue heavy.

And I'm sort of, I've got the back and forth between the characters, but
