It's the constant juggling and the thought that goes into it.
to actually execute the plan, right?
So the other part of this is the mental health piece and the quote unquote overwhelm that we feel just by being in this role.
You know, loneliness is absolutely one of the sort of emotions that is identified pretty universally among those of us in the sandwich because we feel overwhelmed and we feel, as we pointed out, grief for who we were and what our life should be or what we thought it should be.
And yet you love the person that you're providing the care to.
So to complain about it to anyone else listening, it sounds terrible, right?
And so I think what happens is we keep it all in for fear of sort of looking bad to the outside world.
And it can be really lonely sometimes.
not getting those feelings out and saying how we actually feel for fear of people judging us and thinking, well, you're not a good daughter, you're not a good mom, you're not a good partner.
So holding all of those emotions in can really cause the loneliness, you become an island.

What do you want?

They're facing their own mortality.
They're facing perhaps their own disability.
It's not so easy as an adult child to raise your hand and say, let's talk about when you're going to die.
Let's talk about that.
