We need to do something about firearms killing our children.
They're also the most used in suicide.
Suicide risk is just elevated because of them.
So let's have real regulation around firearms.
Full stop.
Yeah.
I mean, my second grader at the time when they were going through all these active shooter drills was a large child and he couldn't fit under the desk.
They couldn't find a place for him to hide in his classroom.
So that was the most stressful thing that happened to him personally.
you know, those days.
And we're also seeing, we've seen, you know, everyone's talking about this time when anxiety went up between 2010 and 2020 among young people while school shootings also increased during that time.
So guns are a thing and they kill our kids.
Second, the fact that this country does not have real parental leave policies is pretty atrocious.
And so we know the first thousand days are fundamental in forming the foundation for young children, right?
Mental disorder and the risk for that are embedded early in life.
And so we need to support parents in those early years to actually be with their children, to have the time to recover from
having or welcoming children into their families.
And so those types of policies that are supporting parents, I think are just absolutely crucial.
The third is that about 20%, up towards the 25% of children, the numbers have gone down a little bit, but not enough, live in poverty.
And when we wrote the report for Commons and Census, it was essentially one in every two teenagers lived in a low-income household, right?
