So Sunna, after your very negative experience with boredom in the early stages of lockdown, are you feeling a little bit more positive about future boredom now?
Well, at the end of the day, even if uh you have the right attitude, this also obviously interplays with your environment and your personality.
So next week we'll be exploring the link between personality traits and how we experience boredom.
Because it seems that based on your personality, you might experience boredom slightly differently.
Thanks, Sunna.
A couple of weeks ago, my friend Eloise found herself in uncharted territory.
She'd had a tricky start to the year.
She was adapting to a new city, away from friends and family, and she was searching for a home.
While she was looking for a resolution to these bigger structural issues in her life, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, making everything feel suddenly more precarious for her.
So
What did you do?
It's sometimes difficult to talk about reaching out for help, but Eloise wanted to tell her story, partly because of the disconnect between what she expected would or should happen
And what actually did happen?
So why did you say why did you feel you had to say you weren't suicidal before you mentioned that you called a mental health service?
What is it about that call that you think helped you kind of switch off?
This is Kelly Hode.
She didn't answer Eloise's call that day, but she is a telephone counsellor.
She works for Beyond Blue, and over the past few weeks, she's been taking dozens of calls from people struggling through the COVID-19 pandemic.
So if someone was calling you feeling quite acute anxiety or depression to do with COVID nineteen and the pandemic right now, what sorts of techniques would you use?
