You want to make sure that you already know it before it happens, you know.
You just listed many of the concerns that I hear all the time.
So I think this is great.
We're going to cover lots of the concerns that financial institutions have when we're talking about the technologies that we mentioned here.
So this is great.
So when it comes to liquidity management, it's...
This is absolutely a real consideration when it comes to instant payments adoption.
But I think it's often mischaracterized as a new problem, when in reality, it's an evolution of an existing one, just as like we just mentioned, mentioned transaction monitoring, right?
Transaction monitoring is also not a new thing.
So, banks have always managed liquidity.
What's changed is the operating environment, and this is really important.
So, in traditional payment systems, liquidity management benefited from structural buffers, right?
So, things like batch processing and ACH, net settlement and chips, and intraday credit and Fedwire.
Those mechanisms give institutions time, predictability and degree of flexibility in how they managed positions.
So with instant payments, many of those buffers are reduced or removed.
So now settlement is immediate and final.
So liquidity needs to be available up front.
And demand is continuous, so 24-7, 365.
So the challenge isn't new, but it is more real-time, more operational, and more demanding for sure.
So there's also a common perception that pre-funding eliminates flexibility.
