There's just there's no research to back that.

So sometimes as parents, we feel like we're wanting to almost win a race with our children.

But there's no need.

There's absolutely no need.

They're on their developmental continuum now.

And it all falls into place really quite nicely around about age seven developmentally for those foundational skills.

That's an important point.

Equitable is something that doesn't happen at the moment, as we know, because every child has such a different early years experience.

It's not like Estonia or Scandinavian countries where it's a level playground in terms of what early education they can access.

In New Zealand, you've got... Some children will not have any early years education.

There's about maybe 10% of the population won't access anything at all.

So there's a real sort of, you know, disconnect.

So for us... Is part of the problem...

Yeah, that's such a good point.

And a lot of our families haven't had great experiences themselves at school.

So there's a real disconnect there in our communities.

We've got, you know, people who are immigrants like myself who arrive here and think, oh, what's the story here with early childhood?

It's very different from where I've come from.

So, you know, there's a lot.
