You know, the research on this is mixed.
Studies in Germany and France have found that, you know, the thinking on this sometimes is that people working fewer hours will spread the work around a little bit.
But in those studies, these reduced schedules didn't lead to increased employment levels.

Unilever is actually conducting a trial among its employees in New Zealand, and it was supposed to be a one-year trial.
They've extended it a little bit because of some pandemic interruptions, but that wraps up this month.
And in 2019, Microsoft actually discontinued a four-day workweek experiment in Japan after about five weeks, but they declined to comment on that further.
You know, how this is implemented really varies occupation by occupation.
So, for example, among workers who work shifts, certainly, you know, this is a matter of scheduling them differently.
For companies that perform production or have to, you know, have delivery associated with their work, they can't simply trim a day of the work week when their work needs to be performed.
And so in those cases, you know, it's about staffing a little bit differently.
For office workers who work what we think of as this traditional Monday to Friday, you know, nine to five work week, that is a little bit different.
It is about, you know, getting your work done in those four days, but it's also about the company taking steps to say, you know, we're planning for how to implement this.
You know, we have a day of the week where we go dark or we stagger this work or there are no meetings on these days.
You know, attempts to introduce this here have been mixed.
And, you know, certainly, as you mentioned, for a lot of Americans, the idea of just working five days a week, nine to five sounds wonderful.
Lots of people are doing many hours beyond that.
And, you know, in May, there was actually a proposal in California to require some private sector employers to pay workers overtime after logging more than 32 hours a week, which would be considered four days of work.
But it failed actually to advance in the legislature.
