So this year, two weeks ago, he appealed this sentence, the severity of his sentence, and
at the hearing for the sentence appeal hearing, the judge referred to a number of character references that had been given for Daniel Ramsey to be used in mitigation against his sentence.
These character references, there were 22 of them, I believe.
One of them in particular was referred to by the judge
the judge in the appeal hearing and the judge in that case said that this particular reference had been given by at that stage he said it was a TD and he said he was he found quite extraordinary that this character reference and all of the character references that have been handed in
didn't refer to the child victim or the vile nature of the crimes that Daniel Ramamorthy had committed.
So there was a lot of media attention for obvious reasons.
A TD had been mentioned.
And then at the judgment for the sentence hearing last week on Tuesday, the same judge moved to clarify what he had said, his previous comments about this TD.
And he said that it was a former TD that he's referring to,
There was an application by the Irish Times to have the testimonial in question handed over to them.
They wanted to know who this particular person was.
The judge said he would not be doing that.
And he also dismissed Ramamurthy's appeal on the sentence, the severity of that sentence.
Yes, yesterday there was a statement released from a PR firm, Q4PR, on behalf of Mr Glennon.
And in that statement, Mr Glennon confirmed
that he is the former TD who submitted the character reference that was referred to by the judge in the Court of Appeal earlier this week.
I'll just read a bit from the statement that was put out to the media yesterday.
And he said that the crimes committed by Mr Ramamorthy were vile and of the most egregious nature.
And he said, I offer my unreserved apology to the victim and to their family, and that writing a letter was an error of judgment.
