Because we don't have the time and energy to be doing it.
And it's a real wake-up call for other streamers or even other businesses who have these kind of digital products and services to go, actually, we need to look at how our terms and conditions are set up and really look at it through a fairness lens.
Put themselves in the shoes of a customer and say, well, actually, is this really fair?
Ideally, those people who have paid an annual subscription and then have been asked to pay more to get the exact same thing, they should be getting a refund.
But at the moment, those refunds or getting a refund or compensation is by negotiation.
And I believe that's something, from what we've heard, ACCC and Amazon are working on together.
So that would be great if that happens for at least these customers.
But overall, it is about really thinking about, well, should you be charging someone more just to get the same thing?
Ideally, if they wanted to charge more, you'd think that they'd let people have their 12 months that had elapsed.
And then go, well, from here, because your contract ends, these are the new Ts and Cs.
But what's happened is midway through contracting, like, by the way, just to get the same thing, here's a bill for $2.99 per month.
It was so exciting last week because while Australia didn't make it through to the World Cup, this was for all consumer nerds around Australia, our World Cup.
We were so excited.
What it really is, is that it's a general prohibition that businesses can't treat consumers unfairly.
There's a broad general prohibition in there, which means that businesses can't use their power, their knowledge, their resources to essentially make it difficult for you to navigate the market or use tricks and traps against you, basically.
And so one of the biggest things that we're going to see a shift in, which we spoke about last year, was the use of dark patterns.
So these are design features that are built into our apps and websites purely to steer our choices.
So you'll see where you see those pop-ups that come up, you know, sign up for a $10 discount and you see two buttons, one that says, yeah, sign me up, and the second that says, no.
No, I just like paying more.
That's not a choice.
