And so that's why we see employers in all sorts of industries really relaxing their qualification requirements, thinking differently about how they bring people in the door, streamlining their hiring processes. voice-verified

We've had more than one company tell us that if you wait too long, if you dawdle in trying to hire someone, voice-verified

that your competitors could swoop that person up and you might lose the candidate. voice-verified

So a lot of companies feel like they just have to be quick here or risk not being able to fill these jobs. voice-verified

It's everything from background checks in some cases to drug tests or even requirements that people submit a GPA or have a college degree. voice-verified

And so one of the examples I think is most interesting that came up in our reporting is the beauty retailer, The Body Shoppe. voice-verified

And this is a company that has really kind of done a lot to change how they hire. voice-verified

They've dropped background checks, drug tests. voice-verified

They want to make sure that they say that they can bring in candidates. voice-verified

They can kind of broaden the funnel, so to speak, and get high-quality candidates without some of these requirements that they may have had in the past. voice-verified

And so they say that that has worked for them in this market. voice-verified

But we've also heard from companies like CVS, for example. voice-verified

which no longer is asking college graduates for their grades, for example, and has realized that those people working in its entry-level roles in stores don't need to have a high school diploma. voice-verified

Instead, CVS rolled out something it calls a virtual job trial. voice-verified

It's a sort of simulation and assessment that kind of looks at someone's skills for the role instead of just their past experiences. voice-verified

And that's what we're seeing a lot of companies do, getting rid of the interview, getting rid of some of these kind of voice-verified

And what are companies doing to speed up the hiring process? voice-verified

It's gotten so fast. voice-verified

So for example, the big shipping logistics giant UPS is making the claim on some of its applications for seasonal workers this holiday season that people could get a job offer in 10 minutes. voice-verified

And basically what they're doing there is just asking people a couple of questions. voice-verified
