He wanted to control every aspect of everything that happened.
And you know, when you know, you've been a CEO, when you're trying to control every aspect of something that happens, particularly in something as large as the federal government, it all breaks down.
Yeah, so Reagan, Reagan, interestingly, exactly what your point, always more interested in acting in Hollywood than he was in sports.
And, you know, obviously his career, many people know he spent years in Hollywood.
But before that,
He was the Cubs, Chicago Cubs, play-by-play guy.
In fact, he skipped, it was, I believe it was spring training.
He skipped a spring training game he was supposed to announce to go out to Hollywood because he had a screen test.
And then, you know, he obviously succeeded in that screen test, got an offer from a studio, and the rest is history, quite literally.
But no, that was his first thing, and...
And this was radio.
And what's fascinating about it is this was not like the days of the internet where you can see every pitch.
It was being sort of conveyed to Reagan from someone who was at the game.
And then Reagan would then recount what was happening.
but there's this great very famous episode where the you know whatever it is teletype machine or whatever goes down and reagan has to kind of tap dance he has no idea what's happening in the game you can't you can't pull it up on tv and um he makes up this whole scenario uh for like an inning and a half which is not close to what happened but but again like
so revealing about like he was always good on his feet he had a very active imagination he knew how to spin a tail but yeah reagan got his start doing that then into acting then into politics but but he much like lbj in this regard neither of them had like a huge um
interest in sports natively.
But he did play George Gipp very famously in the Newt Rockne story.
And when people say like, why did they say like, win one for the Gipper, call Reagan the Gipper?
