He didn't care about sports.
He didn't understand the appeal of sports.
But he understood that Richard Russell needed people to go

Because he's a Senate majority leader and it looks weird if you're just sitting there by himself, but he could go with LBJ.
So Johnson sort of
pretended he was really into baseball, befriended Russell.
They would have him over to the... Johnson's would have Russell over to the house.
It was a means to an end.
And by the way, how did Johnson get the Civil Rights Act passed?

And so even though he didn't care about or really understand sports, he understood.
