Matthew is a sound engineer, a recordist, and the executive director of Wilderness Quiet Parks. voice-verified

Matt is trying to preserve quiet places, to protect natural areas from sound pollution, so that much like how we have places where I can go and I can see the night sky without light pollution, we will also have places where we can go to hear the natural world without noise pollution. voice-verified

That's an idea that I had never encountered before, but it immediately makes voice-verified

sense to me, especially because Matthew has these incredible recordings that he has spent his career making, which give us these crystal clear examples of the types of quiet places that he is trying to preserve. voice-verified
