there was a kind of a buzz of people saying, here we are, here's another one, and linking it directly to the Belfast stabbing and so on.
And then it turned out, or at least as far as has been reported, there is no immigration collection, even in the extended understanding of immigration.
And suddenly all that dropped away.
No buzz about that, no street demonstrations.
And to give another example, I could give more, but I'm only going to give one more.
Around the same time that the murderer of Henry Novak was sentenced, there was another horrific murder, sentencing of someone for an horrific murder in Kent.
I think the trial was at Maidstone Crown Court in Kent.
And a woman had stabbed her next door neighbour multiple times and killed her.
But she was a white woman, both the murderer and the murderer's victim were both, in fact, white.
But certainly the murderer was, you know, I'm not saying it hasn't been reported.
It has, which is why I know about it, but not in the same kind of way.
And so and certainly not leading to any of these kind of, you know, accusations about about two tier justice, two tier policing or two tier justice or about the sort of the dangers of immigration.
And so, of course.
What is then created is this narrative.
Now, as I say, on the one hand, it is clearly, I think, deliberately created and propagated by activists and influencers, both in this country and abroad.
And then on the other hand, for people who are perhaps not necessarily activists,
ideologically committed in that way but they can tend to be a kind of like a confirmation bias you know that you sort of particularly because of the media reporting following that following that narrative that you kind of notice the cases which fit that narrative and don't notice the cases which don't and and even more than that because of the issue of media coverage
You might, as an ordinary person who doesn't have any particular views about race or immigration, who doesn't particularly follow the news closely, who certainly doesn't follow statistics about immigration and crime particularly closely, but you might actually not unreasonably get the impression, hang on, every time I hear about a murder, it seems as if it's being done by criminals.
You know, someone who's sort of got, is there an immigrant who's, you know... Came in on a small boat.
Yeah, all of that kind of thing.
