So that vision is,
was disastrous.
He leaves the fed in 2006.
And of course we have the great financial crisis in 2008 Lehman implodes.
Everything goes off the rails.
However, he had a theory.
He had a mission to make financial innovation more common.
And then he used all kinds of powers at the fed to make that possible.
And then we got the disaster that comes out of it.
So market craft can be for things that are quite dark.
And it can be for things that are much more promising.
But the reason that I wrote the book, the reason that I'm talking about all this stuff is because only when we understand that this is going on can we actually talk about how to do it in a smart way in the past.
If we just say, oh, markets are free.
You can't worry about them.
Maybe you can bail out a bank.
Then we'll never get anywhere.
Well, I wrote the book because I love stories and I love policy too.
