So this company spoke with the other competitors internationally, and they all agreed to fix the prices at this level so that, you know, nobody goes below that so that we can all make lots of money.
They actually were taken to court and they ended up being charged and sentenced with the longest known Australian sentence for racketeering, fixing the prices internationally of these compounds so that they could profit.

It's absolutely crazy.
It's just a bizarre piece of history that shocked me when I learned it.
Well, if I'm going to be diplomatic, the very first obvious one is that it was a top secret mission.
We're not going to go shouting to the media or putting it into our textbooks because it's an immediate history.
Once World War II was over, there was no longer top secret, but...
it became commercially valuable.
And at the point Indigenous medicine becomes commercially valuable, the origins from Indigenous people tends to disappear because the way commercially valuable medicines work is that you want patents that demonstrate exclusive ownership and creation.
And so if you start acknowledging origins outside of your corporation,
then you jeopardize the ability to control that patent and make profit from it.
And so there's an incentive to not necessarily be honest about the history and express gratitude.
No, absolutely not.
I mean, most communities that I go to to share this knowledge with, it's the first time they're hearing about that having been taken and used that way.
So yeah, no benefit sharing arrangements were done.
Yeah, so, you know, one of the terms that you see more commonly in literature is repatriation.
But speaking to my indigenous friends, I was advised to use the term rematriation because it's often the women that hold the knowledge.
And this has to do with basically just giving an acknowledgement, expressing gratitude.
That's where I started from.
