Now I think there's a various things, Henry, playing into this.

I think uh he and his team, Farage and his team, are probably exhausted from the campaign of the last few weeks.

I think probably there was a bit of a thought that if you don't go out and give a speech and give interviews, that the story is one of Nigel Farage wins the by-election oh and there's this oddity about him not turning up in various places, as opposed to the headlines being all about those questions that he continues to face about reforms finances and the re-established investigation by Parliament Standards Commissioner, um, et cetera, uh, et cetera.

And and them making an argument that they say, look at the endorsement we've had from people in the patch, more votes for Nigel Farage in this contest than a couple of years ago.

A pretty healthy turnout for a by-election in the middle of uh middle of summer without the other main parties uh standing.

But yeah, that that kind of demeanour, if you like, Henry, of Nigel Farage at uh the moment is a fascinating one at just the point that they face.

Not just a level of scrutiny, but a a level of um competitive zeal from their principal opponents that we haven't seen for some time.

There's this kind of burn and bounce uh going on at the moment for the Labour Party.

The Conservatives are more chipper than they were uh a year ago.

There's Restore Britain with Rupert Lowe, the former reform MP, uh making a something of a mark in various contests in Makerfield in the Manchester Mayor or

election uh for uh for instance.

So it's a it's a it's a new landscape really, I think, for reform and Nigel Farage, who have in many senses dominated so much of political chat and led so many opinion polls over the last couple of years.

It's a different landscape they they face now than they did just a few months ago.

And how Nigel Farage approaches his that approaches that and how his uh how outwardly he comes across in taking on that is going to be

fascinating and we've had an element of that playing out in the contest up until yesterday, out and about on the front foot, trying to be positive, etcetera etcetera.

And then as these critics see it, th if you like, as they see it, the more negative Nigel Farage uh in in the last twelve hours or so.
