There was an amazing thing that happened that was kind of magical.
I should also say, backing up just a little bit, that this made me love Salem's Lot even more.
When I read this, just because of the
the uh the sublime sort of maturity with which he wrote the end of callahan's story in salem's lot yeah uh i think pays such dividends here would have been so easy for him to just like become a vampire or become something bloodthirsty but because he didn't do that at fucking 26 like callahan gets this really rich odyssey grappling with his faith trying to like
you know drink the taste out of his mouth and stuff like that it's really really sophisticated and really subtle and mature um but at in uh in 2003 i believe it was maybe it was late 2002 but i'm pretty sure it was 2003 because this book came out in november of 2003
TNT released a new adaptation of Salem's Lot before this book came out, right?
Like, let's say it was in like June or something like that.
And it is not a good adaptation of Salem's Lot.
Rob Lowe plays Ben Mears.
Rutger Hauer plays Barlow.
Great cast, but it's just, it's not a very good adaptation.
It,
it opens the, the fucking mini series opens with Ben Mears in New York city.
And he finds father Callahan in a soup kitchen serving the homeless and then chases father Callahan through the fucking, uh, the soup kitchen.
