aye aye captain okay it's almost like the author of this podcast is injecting himself into it is it is it's insane um for pure story loved this one absolutely loved it yeah yeah uh this one this one was pretty propulsive uh you definitely definitely don't forget to do rankings because i got some adjustments to
me okay so yeah uh really really loved this one as a story just had some of my favorite roland stuff i love i love roland in action and i'm really loving the uh the blooming gunslingers of our katat and that they are they're each getting their kind of
kick-ass scenes.
I think Susanna gets a little short shrift here, but apparently she's got a whole book coming up next.
So I'm just assuming it's all reserved there.
But on the whole, I really enjoyed this one quite a lot.
No, I mean, my my relationship to the last three books are a little weird.
I have a kind of intense relationship with the last three books because because of when they came out, they came out in a very like fraught period of my life and they were.
kind of like my my life rafts for a little while.
And so I have it on some level.
It's hard for me to even look critically at the three of them as far as like first reads go.
But I think I have a beyond that a very similar
relationship that I think you have with this book in particular I loved it when it first came out you know I read it when it was released and then read it a few more times in quick enough succession that it's all kind of the same experience like in the early 2000s and then I once I started rereading it critically like I don't know maybe 10 years ago or something like that
it really struck me how bloated and slow it felt to me.
Um, and I, the, the most recent time I reread it was like two years ago and it almost became like my least favorite book in the, in the series.
I was, there was just something about it that was so, uh, draggy, uh, and, uh,
approached it for this conversation with just a tiny bit of trepidation just because i was you know i think we've even expressed it in palavers and and whatnot where i was like okay we just got to get through this then we'll get to like the final sprint and i don't know if it's reading it through chris's eyes or just kind of the context or what but this time around it kind of felt like the first time i loved it it was enjoyable yeah i think it is a
It's a grand adventure.
It's one of the most important books in the entire series as far as introducing some things.
Or I should say not even introducing things because it doesn't really introduce anything new, but it codifies some things that have already been put into the series.
