processed and not a risk, right?
And not expensive.
So yeah, I think those those things have been conflated, but the thing to understand about how that might impact your day-to-day SEO, for instance.
Is think about what kind of information Google is getting from Chrome and how they might use that to make their evaluations more efficient.
So for instance, like we could use some kind of heuristic to say, like, these are top nav links, they don't need to be crawled all the time, and these are footer links, like we could basically ignore those and whatever.
And that's how people used to think about link.
Linking and internal linking is like Google uses these heuristics to learn your page.
And they probably do use heuristics to learn rendering of your page so that it doesn't have to take so much and they're like, this is the same template again and again.
We don't need to evaluate the same template, we just need to find the content, right?
But probably rather than you than using like lots of compute power to do a heuristic on every different page template that exists on the internet, why would they?
not just use user engagement data to evaluate which which links on a page should be crawled regularly and which ones can kind of be ignored.
The ones that are getting clicked are the ones that users care about.
So they're the ones that should probably be recrawled regularly and those links should probably even be given more weight in the algorithm.
If links get clicks, like links on your page get clicks, then they probably matter more than
The footer links.
But if you have a footer link that gets a lot of clicks, then that's probably an important page for you.
So I think in some ways SEOs may have simplified or allowed Google to give us this simplified understanding how SEO works and never update it.
But I think now, with all the AI that's available to process things, we have to
get the easiest things, the easiest inputs to give the AI and process those.
Otherwise it just gets bogged down and too complex, right?
