Yeah, I'd say they volunteered and found us more than we were.
And extremely generous.
I think um the the first two groups, we had some wonderful individuals.
Um Megan Weaver, um, who's one of my research colleagues, but she's actually a pediatrician, pediatric palliative care physician who volunteered.
Um, and then we had a whole team from Pittsburgh who also volunteered and other scattered alumni from around the country.
Well, and actually with one exception too of um during the surge, as I'm sure you all well, you may have read in the news, there was um multiple sort of unusual facilities set up in New York City for care of people with COVID, including a tent.
Um
run technically run in partnership with Mount Sinai, but right in Central Park, near where my background photo is, um, that uh technically our Pow Care department was was staffing PowdCare Needs for the tent, but they didn't have anyone in person.
So Patch Line was the POW care team for the tent.
Um so for those patients we were very aware if it was a tent patient because they didn't have on site PowCare.
That is a great point.
Um, and I think again, lessons learned.
I think there are there are some ways where that we incorporated IDT and sort of broader staff outside of what we describe in the paper.
Um later on in the line we had nurse practitioners helping staff patch, um not at first, but later.
Our chaplains were really our chaplain team actually took on all the bereavement work for patients um seen by patch who died.
And in the emergency room, that's one of the few places in the hospital where there's really active twenty-four-seven social work.
Um so in the emergency rooms, we'd often partner with the on-site uh social workers.
However, our own team, palliative care, social work and chaplains as part of our regular team, I mean, we we doubled our inpatient services as well.
Um, so they went from being spread thin to being spread extremely thin.
So unfortunately, between the staffing needs and logistics, they weren't looped in on on simultaneously with patch calls.
