But I suppose that's the distinction, isn't it, between the two roles.
So with your work in telehospital as a consultant, who would be the the patients that you'd see?
What would be the conditions you'd be dealing with?
When we were talking at that launch event about your your work and you you mentioned this to me, um, my first thought was I've never covered acute mental illness on the show in seven years.
So that was to my shame.
And the second was almost um another confession, a reaction of
how difficult that must be, how challenging that must be.
But there is a lot of stigma around acute ment mental illness that I sort of felt in myself as a natural reaction.
We have fear of these
conditions.
I I I'd really want to
have you on the show to help rid us all of that?
Is that something you come up against?
Yeah, and I know you've written many books, one of them Hearing Voices, The History of Mental Psychiatry in Ireland.
So how have things changed over the years, or are we still feeling the legacy of how we used to treat people with mental illness?
with these conditions than that idea of historically removing this person from society.
