And the gap between when people first realized and when a national policy was all across the country was nine years.

It took seven years just for the FDA to start requiring testing blood.

And in that gap, a lot of people were killed or injured.

Something like half of all hemophiliacs or 16,000 hemophiliacs in the country, half of them contracted AIDS to the blood supply.

And I just looked at a 1995 review

commissioned by HHS to see, well, what did we do wrong there looking back at the 80s?

And they found that there was delayed

mitigation of risk in spite of mounting evidence.

They found that there was an overweening reliance on the guidance of big blood, the blood industry where there is conflicts of interest.

And then there was an overweening demand for absolute scientific proof that flew in the face of common sense, reasoning and patient reporting.

Yeah, and there was a real desire not to create a hysteria over the blood supply, right?

They didn't want a hysteria to break out.

And we're seeing the same things here again, right?

The FDA comes out with a statement that's actually based on a fallacious, the study's not fallacious, the use of it's fallacious.

The idea that in some way directed donations are more risky when what that study showed was that directed donations were actually aiding public health.

Once you looked at how people were filtered from the screening process, and of course, no damage was done.

And that appears on the FDA website.

I mean, that's, in my opinion, that's like horses and pigs and cows all over again.

And so we have to realize that there seems to be delays with our bureaucracies that are supposed to be protecting us, getting on board to protect us.

It's very concerning.
