No one really wants to give it a label or make a commitment straight away because the getting to know each other is the process that helps you kind of deepen feelings and connection before you want to give it a label or say, okay, this is what it is.
And it's not uncommon for even people to be in different relationship stages when they're in a relationship.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't be together.
But, you know, the most common development is you do tend to have a conversation at some point about where are we at and do we want greater commitment and exclusivity.
And I think that's a natural part of relationships.
And if you don't have that conversation, you could end up in the situation like I think it was Amy who said after two years, she's not going anywhere and incredibly frustrated.

I think that really comes down to physiology, Nat.
It's like the uh you've probably heard of the negativity bias in the brain.
that the brain is Velcro for negative experiences and Teflon for positive experiences.
So the dilemma is when we get hurt in the past, when we experience pain.
We remember that.
And when it happens with someone we love
It can be a challenge to get over it because uh we're kind of drawn even
Just on that neurological level, we're drawn back to painful experiences and sometimes we keep
reliving them over and over again.
Unless you really repair that.
Well as a couple, it can be hard to move forward.
