Oh, that's NBA star.
Oh, really?
But yeah, I mean, if you're getting a close up of a famous player from the past, you may actually have to explain who this individual is.
Because your Uncle Joe and Auntie Vera are watching one of their three football matches this year.
And you have got to welcome them in without talking down to the people who watch every football match.
And it's a bit of a balancing act.
But I think when the occasions are as big as that... And the same is true, probably...
of a Champions League final, or it was in the terrestrial television days, in the ITV days, where you were getting audiences of 20 million, yeah, you've got to welcome people in.
And I often relate this to...
the smaller sports that we see once every four years and an Olympic Games.
And it's a wonderful showcase for those sports.
And we've become hooked on those sports for a few weeks.
And everybody tells us this is completely going to change the profile of this sport forever and a day.
And we'll all be playing it in two weeks time.
We never do.
But for those two weeks of curling or volleyball or judo or whatever it is, the commentators have got to understand they're not commentating to their mates down at the judo club.
They're commentating to all of us.
And in a sense, that's exactly the same job for me as a football commentator when the occasion is bigger than a football match.
I'm glad you appreciate that.
I mean, what you just described is the evolution of my profession over the course of the last five or 10 years.
