I know that I speak to so many people here all the time who go to weddings that they don't want to go to.

They go to weddings that they can't afford to go to.

And they do this because they're so terrified

of not fitting in.

They're so terrified of being excluded.

the energy for that is going away.

And this isn't just at an individual level, this is at a collective level.

We are really becoming a people who are mature enough to handle a good old-fashioned no.

We're becoming mature enough to understand when someone says, hey, I don't drink anymore, so I don't go to weddings because they're just focused on alcohol.

Not just, but primarily focused on alcohol.

Or I don't go to weddings because I need to retreat from people.

And weddings are too socially oppressive for me.

The only way I can go to weddings now is if I officiate them.

I can't go to a wedding as a guest.

I can only go to weddings now if I'm actually marrying the couple.

Because in that situation, I have a little job to do.

So I'm not trapped in socializing.

And because I have a little job to do, whenever I get stuck in a conversation, I can tap the person on the shoulder and say, here, I have to run.

I have to marry these people now.

I have to go meet the parents.
