Mike is punched into the water and terrorized by a rock-throwing Rajet.
It's a shocking moment.
A bit goofy, but shocking.
Later, he's visited by the sheriff deputy who passes along a message from DeVore that if no legal action is pursued, Max will relinquish his pursuit of Kyra.
That night, we see Rod Jett kill Max in the bathtub.
In a flashback dream ghost sequence, Kyra is haunted and hunted through the barn by men who have come to abduct her.
He awakens to a phone call from Maddie, who lets him know what we had just learned from the ghost of Sarah Tidwell in his dream, that Max DeVore is dead.
And he agrees to come over to dinner after the next day funeral.
Mike goes to the funeral and follows up with one of the attendants who mistakes Mike for his grandfather.
He tells Mike about the history of the town, revealing that Joe had come to him to learn about the town, about Sarah Tidwell and that 1930s fair.
All right.
So the next scene that happens is the flashback to the events.
This one is hard to watch and it's hard to really talk about.
So I just, spoiler alert, if you haven't watched it, it depicts rape.
And child murder.
And it's hard to watch, not because of the effectiveness of the storytelling, just because of the content.
What happens here is that Sarah is raped by Max DeVore while her daughter is drowned in a lake.
The material is, it's heavy, it's painful.
