uh i feel as though you need to have a dexterity and control of the content uh to be able to show the horror of this moment and unfortunately i don't think that mick garris has the chops to pull this off um it

It just, it feels garish and cheap.

This, you know, I apologize for always talking about Twin Peaks, but when David Lynch depicts moments of violence, he places us, I mean, when we think about what happened to Laura Palmer, it sticks with her.

And it is hard to watch, but it's necessary.

Because if we are going to

explore this concept then we need to feel the pain of what the the character is going through and the actress who's playing sarah does does a good job with what she's asked to do and the idea here is

of a woman uh being raped while watching her daughter be drowned i mean think about that for a second the how horrific that is the scene is presented very flatly there's no tension to it it doesn't build up to anything it just happens in fact if anything the the the primary person in that scene it's not sarah as it as much as it is max clearly because this is being told by

the survivor of Max's gang who had been there.

But still, if you're going to depict this scene, then you have to be able to justify the worth of depicting it and have it be something that says something, that means something.

so matter of factly and, and flatly, uh, I mean, and the, the image of the guy drowning the daughter in the lake, it's kind of goofy.

And that's not the adjective that you should be using when, when a scene like this is taking place.

Uh, it's a, it's, it's poorly done.

And when you have a scene with this subject matter, that's poorly done, it fails to justify its existence for being there.

Um,

If you can't pull it off and you're going to depict sexual violence and child murder like this, then if it's not going to contribute to the horror or the sympathy of the character, if you can't pull it off, then are we better off just having Mike learn about it and having us fill in the horrors in our mind?

I would argue that that's the better route to take.

because it's among the worst thing that can happen to a human and to a woman.

And like I said, if you're not going to be able to...

put us there, which I think that Mick Garris is unable to do, then don't include it at all.
