It doesn't come to fruition or make emotional sense to make it feel worthy of watching.

So unfortunately, the Bag of Bones adaptation, I tried to go into it with an open mind.

Because as I have stated before in the past, I feel...

Terrible that I was as judgmental and snarky about the Stand TV miniseries, which I have great memories of, and I think that it holds up.

And especially in contrast to the CBS All Access Josh Boone showrun adaptation of The Stand, Mick Garris' Stand is far superior and a novel that manages to capture Stephen King's voice in an audiovisual way that a lot of people fail to do.

So...

I will always apologize for that.

And I try to go into Mick Garris adaptations with an open mind since then.

But unfortunately, the end result when I watch these things is that I walk away feeling as though these are lesser quality adaptations.

And I think that the subject matter does allow for exploration.

Now, when I would watch something like...

The Shining.

When I would watch Stephen King's The Shining, I have to remind myself, all right, now I'm stepping back in time during a different time period of television expectations.

So when I'm watching something in 1997, I need to step back and remember that I'm not looking at television becoming this place of...

critical destination where it does become the place where there is prestige because for years where prestige stories were told was in the movies and then to a lesser extent there was television.

And so I just needed to reorient myself and say, okay, you have to judge it for what it was

with the constraints and limitations at the time.

Even then, with something like The Shining, I have difficulty being able to find value in the output, even judging it compared to what could be done within the medium and the limitations.

I feel that decisions are made that

are entirely make it a lesser film.
