Within bricks and mortar though, it can be just as simple.

If you think about the self checkout options that a lot of merchants use, again, they're registered.

They've got their mobile phone number.

I was,

in our local grocery store yesterday using a self checkout.

And the thing I did to access the device for the self checkout was use my mobile phone number.

So, um, it's quite easy.

And I often think as I'm walking to the, uh, confounded POS terminal to do the self checkout, well, you could have just asked me now to send you the money as I'm walking out the store.

And that would be just as good for me.

Um, I think those, uh,

You've also got to think about the loyalty accounts in there as well at those grocery stores.

Again, it's another way that you've already registered your details.

So the store can absolutely move to that.

What we should recognize in instant payments is that we're still seeing limited send volume of transactions.

Lots and lots of receivers of instant payments.

So just for the audience,

benefit in case i didn't already know you can be a receiver of instant payments and you can be a sender of instant payments it's all from your customer's perspective so if you're receiving the funds you're literally just going to drop them into your the bank account um of the beneficiary it's pretty easy it's normally a core banking call at most but to send an instant payment requires a whole different user experience and a whole different interaction with the customer

alongside additional fraud checks, additional core banking approvals.

So there's an orchestration of the payment that needs to happen in order for you to be able to send a payment.

So we're seeing plenty of banks that are registered to send and receive, but I'm not convinced all of those are actually able to send and receive.
