You know what?

I've asked quite a few questions about him.

Obviously, I've watched him play and I've watched video on him, but that doesn't give you enough.

I think you have to talk to people that have coached him and they talk about his hockey sense.

I like the fact that when a guy has really had to earn it,

You spend time in the American Hockey League.

You learn to fall in love with the details, and details are what allow these kind of guys to get back on track and to get playing in the National Hockey League.

I think he's got a really good brain, and I think he's going to allow us to move the minutes around a lot more.

I had an opportunity to play him a couple times late last year.

He's a big guy that can skate.

And like a lot of defensemen, I think you look around the league and you look at guys that came from other organizations when they were younger.

Okay, he can't play.

He can't play.

And all of a sudden, he can play.

You look at Jalen Chodfield in Carolina, who I know because he played for the Windsor Spitfires.

But in Vancouver, he couldn't find a regular spot.

And clearly, someone made a decision that he wasn't going to play.

wasn't good enough.

And here's a guy that's six foot four and could skate.

You know, when do they find their niche?
